Fatal capturing by Sheriff’s Department in Hesperia investigated by California Department of Justice



A home violence suspect was fatally shot in a confrontation with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Saturday; and the California Department of Justice mentioned Tuesday it’s investigating the capturing.

The Sheriff’s Department mentioned in a Tuesday assertion there was a home violence arrest warrant for Keith Vinyard, 52, of Hesperia, and that Vinyard fled a site visitors cease on Saturday at round 9:50 p.m. on the 15400 block of Halinor Street in Hesperia.

According to the Sheriff’s assertion, Vinyard was driving recklessly throughout the pursuit. After the pursuit ended, he refused to adjust to instructions given by a deputy and threatened to shoot a deputy, the assertion mentioned.

Vinyard armed himself with a “giant metallic object” as extra deputies arrived, resulting in him getting shot and killed on the scene, the Sheriff’s assertion mentioned.

The California DOJ commonly investigates when there may be an officer-involved capturing ensuing within the dying of an unarmed civilian. An unarmed civilian is outlined as an individual not in possession of a lethal weapon.

It wasn’t instantly identified if Vinyard was armed with a lethal weapon at any level throughout Saturday’s confrontation with the deputies.
