Cardenas market in Fontana is newest goal of smash-and-grab jewellery thieves



Fontana police are searching for three males who smashed a glass show case at a Cardenas grocery store and made off with an unspecified quantity of bijou.

The theft occurred round 2:12 p.m. at 11647 Cherry Ave. on Thursday, May 16, mentioned Officer Steven Reed, a Police Department spokesman.

The males pulled up in a white Ford Mustang with a black convertible high and bought out sporting hooded sweatshirts, backpacks and medical-style masks, Reed mentioned. They used a hammer to interrupt the glass at a kiosk after which grabbed handfuls of bijou.

They drove away north on Cherry towards Jurupa Avenue, Reed mentioned.

No arrests have been introduced.

Other Cardenas markets have been equally hit.

The Lupita’s Jewelers inside a Cardenas on Valley Boulevard in Fontana was robbed in July of 2022.

Two males armed with blunt objects stole $80,000 of bijou in a smash-and-grab theft at a Cardenas in Moreno Valley in September of 2022.

Cardenas markets have been additionally the targets of bijou thieves in Riverside, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore in 2022, authorities reported.
