Modern Ireland has little in widespread with its picture as offered by the US president, columnist Mark Piggott explains in The Times:
“Ireland’s taoiseach is a homosexual man of Indian descent; faith, a minimum of of the Catholic selection, is in terminal decline after many years of scandal. Last weekend in Cork we visited the multi-ethnic Marina Market and ate Mexican fajitas whereas ingesting American beer and watching English soccer on a Japanese TV. Like it or not, that is the brand new Ireland. When Biden jokes concerning the Irish being drunk and says issues like, ‘I could also be Irish, however I’m not silly,’ it is laborious to know whether or not he has any understanding of the place in any respect.”
