The reminiscence of the Holy New Martyr Niketas of Nisyros (+ 1732) is well known by the Church June twenty first. He was beheaded by the Turks on the age of 15 for turning into a Christian after being raised a Muslim.
Today his sacred cranium is saved in Iveron Monastery at Mount Athos.
In 2015 his cranium was introduced with nice celebration to Nisyros, one of many Aegean islands of the Dodecanese, to honor the restoration of his paternal residence, which is now a shrine.
