Russia bombed Ukraine church on Orthodox Easter, says official

A Ukrainian official has claimed that the Russian army attacked a church in Ukraine on Sunday as many Ukrainians have been celebrating the Orthodox Easter.

According to Newsweek, Serhii Lysak, the top of Ukraine’s Dnipro Oblast Military Administration, shared particulars concerning the alleged assault in a Telegram publish on Sunday morning. 

He mentioned it had taken place in Nikopol, southern Ukraine, and left two individuals injured – a 57-year-old man and 38-year-old girl. 

The assault additionally broken a number of residential and farm buildings.

Lysak mentioned the assault confirmed that “there may be nothing sacred” for Russian forces.

“The crimes of the enemy is not going to go unpunished. There shall be retribution for the whole lot,” he wrote.

“Sincere religion and the sunshine of the Ukrainian soul is not going to be overshadowed by the darkness of the aggressor.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin marked the Orthodox Easter by attending a service at Christ the Saviour cathedral in Moscow. 

The midnight service was led by Patriarch Kirill, a detailed ally of Putin who has defended Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
