Reflection on the Seventh Sunday of Matthew (St. Theophan the Recluse)

 Seventh Sunday of MatthewMatthew 9:27-35

By St. Theophan the Recluse

“According to your religion be it unto you,” stated the Lord to the 2 blind males, and instantly their eyes had been opened.

The better the religion is, the better is the inflow of Divine energy. Faith is the receiver, lips, and receptacle of grace. Just as one individual’s lungs are giant whereas one other individual’s are small, and the big absorb extra air, whereas the small absorb much less, so one individual has a big diploma of religion, and one other a small diploma, and one individual’s religion receives extra items from the Lord, and one other individual’s fewer.

Lord! Add to our religion, for religion too is Thy present. Each of us ought to confess: “Poor and needy am I” (Ps. 69:6).
