A volunteer police officer needs to be “struck off” after wrongly telling a Christian singer on London’s Oxford Street that she was not allowed to sing church songs exterior of church grounds.
Harmonie London, who posts movies of her Christian avenue performances on YouTube, was approached by the officer exterior John Lewis division retailer as she sang worship songs to passers-by, studies GB News.
The officer instructed her, “No miss, you are not allowed to sing church songs exterior of church grounds, by the best way.”
When Harmonie corrected her, the officer endured and stated she couldn’t sing worship songs “exterior of church grounds except you could have been authorised by the church to do these sort of songs”.
The trade between the officer and Harmonie was captured on video, with the recording uploaded to her YouTube channel.
The officer ultimately walked away however not earlier than sticking her tongue out to the digicam.
Committed Christian and former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe instructed GB News that the officer needs to be “struck off from the voluntary drive”.
She stated there was “no foundation” for what the officer had instructed Harmonie and that she had each proper to sing Christian songs on the road.
“She actually has acquired the regulation fully unsuitable and he or she was clearly having fun with herself reasonably an excessive amount of, making an attempt to boss this girl round,” she stated.
“And there is no such thing as a foundation in any respect for saying you’ll be able to’t sing. I might stroll down the road singing Onward Christian Soldiers and I might be committing no offence in any respect.”
Scotland Yard stated it was “working to grasp the context wherein these feedback had been made”.
