On Sept. 29, 1977, the Salyut 6 house station introduced into orbit. This was once the 8th house station the Soviet Union introduced below its Salyut program and the primary second-generation Salyut house station. 

In contrast to its predecessors, Salyut 6 was once ready to house long-duration crewed missions. Over the process its 5 years in operation, 16 cosmonaut crews visited the station. The longest somebody stayed there was once 185 days. 

The distance station deorbited in 1982 and burned up in Earth’s surroundings.
