NYC fiends wait before bashing man on head with metal bar, video shows

Video shows a crew of armed robbers lying in wait as a 64-year-old Bronx resident opens his apartment door — with one of them then bashing him over the head with a metal bar, according to cops.

The suspects zip-tied and duct-taped the victim — as well as a 60-year-old woman who was in the West Bronx home at the time — while robbing the place before fleeing, authorities said.

The assailants struck at the home at Valentine and East Burnside avenues around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Two of the robbers can be seen waiting around their victim’s apartment in surveillance footage.

Once the 64-year-old resident opens the door, he is bashed in the head with a metal bar.

Surveillance footage shows the victim opening his door and then getting smashed on the head with the bar before falling to the floor as the suspects rush into the apartment.

The crew also struck the man with a gun, cops said.

The violent home invaders then tied up the man and woman, police said. The relationship between the victims was not immediately clear.

The suspects removed a safe, an unspecified amount of cash, a purse and a backpack from the apartment while displaying guns, cops said.
