Free to kill

Regarding “Two slays in 2 days,” (April 12), New York’s obscene no-bail “reforms” and the irresponsible judges who “implement” them are instantly chargeable for two extra murders within the metropolis.

Messiah Nantwi was arrested in February 2021 for allegedly capturing at police and initially held with out bail.

Over the prosecution’s objections, his bail was decreased to $300,000, which his household met by posting a $30,000 bond.

Last weekend, video exhibits that Nantwi allegedly shot and killed a person in a Harlem smoke store after reportedly killing one other on a Manhattan road.

No matter what Assemblyman Carl Heastie and Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins say, that is blood on their palms.

Shelter squabble

Thank you for as soon as once more reporting concerning the failed insurance policies of the de Blasio administration which were carried ahead by Mayor Eric Adams (“Storm from the shelters,” April 9).

No residential New York City neighborhood must be inundated by homeless.

While “secure havens” can work on a smaller scale, it’s an inappropriate mannequin for New York City.

With the uptick in crime dedicated by homeless mentally unwell, it’s not a good suggestion to position of us in a stimulating atmosphere in what’s a cultural and financial engine within the metropolis.

This shouldn’t be a NIMBY problem. It’s widespread sense.

There are a whole bunch, if not 1000’s, of acres within the state the place former state colleges and hospitals had been as soon as located.

Create a mini-community on these unused acres with social and well being companies out there.

One can use renovated buildings, tiny homes, trailers or modular models for that objective.

Please begin pondering in a different way, or we’ll proceed on this lengthy, downward and harmful highway.

Stepmom horror

The evil stepmom who positioned two kids in a freezing storage was sentenced to 25 to life (“Rot, evil stepmom,” April 12).

One of the boys, an autistic 8-year-old, died.

How any human being might do that’s simply past understanding.

The judge remarked on the sentencing that it’s too unhealthy there was no storage on the jail.

My prayers for the 2 boys.

Anti-pill push

Why does the battle in opposition to the anti-abortion crowd seem so tough (“AOC to Joe: Just ignore abort-pill ruling,” April 9)?

Their argument as to when life begins — whether or not it’s after 15 weeks, 12 weeks or at conception — relies on religion somewhat than scientific truth.

Their declare that they’re involved with the correct to lifetime of the unborn raises the query: Where is their concern for the well being and well-being of the already born?

The argument over the “abortion capsule” proves that time.

The “capsule” has been proven to be secure and efficient for many years.

They are, in impact, making an attempt to impose their non secular beliefs on different Americans.

Addressing every anti-abortion argument when raised is a waste of time and vitality.

Stern’s flip

Howard Stern is a washed-up, leftist big-mouth (“Stern spanks Kid,” April 12).

It looks as if throughout COVID, he transitioned from type of an edgy man to a typical, full-blown leftist and paranoid millionaire hypocrite.

He is insulated by his obscene wealth and is clueless concerning the decline of this nation.
