A 20-year-old Hemet man faces a homicide cost in Riverside County after he was accused of promoting a bootleg substance containing fentanyl to a teenage lady, who fatally overdosed in 2020.
The teen was unaware she had ingested fentanyl and was discovered unresponsive July 28, 2020 on the 1900 block of Warwick Street in San Jacinto, officers mentioned. She died on the scene from fentanyl poisoning, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department mentioned in a Monday information launch.
Authorities didn’t specify what substance {the teenager} believed she had bought.
In September 2022, investigators from the sheriff’s Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit took over the case and sought out the suspect answerable for supplying the fentanyl-laced substance. On Sept. 3, 2024, authorities filed expenses in opposition to Julius Brown, who’s presently in custody in Arizona for an unrelated case.
Once Brown’s case is cleared in Arizona, he will probably be transferred to Riverside County the place he faces a homicide cost, the sheriff’s division mentioned.
The investigation is ongoing and no extra data was launched.
