A Florida highschool instructor was arrested for allegedly hiding a young person that had been reported lacking for days inside her dwelling, police stated.
Investigators have been attempting to find the minor, who had been lacking since Aug. 12, once they obtained data from the boy’s mother and father that led them to the Port Charlotte dwelling of 31-year-old instructor Kelly Simpson, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said.
Police discovered the teenager inside her dwelling on Wednesday and Simpson was arrested for interfering with the custody of a minor.
According to the sheriff’s workplace, Simpson picked the boy up from an unknown location and hid him inside her dwelling, figuring out he was reported lacking and endangered.
Simpson was bonded for $5,000 Wednesday, jail records show.
The Charlotte County School District has since positioned Simpson on administrative depart from her place at Charlottte High School, the district stated in a press release to WFTX.
“Charlotte County Public Schools takes an incident equivalent to this very severely,” the assertion stated. “The security, safety, and well-being of our college students are a prime precedence.”
