Family of man imprisoned in India concern he might ‘be caught there for many years’



Two thousand days have now handed for the reason that arrest of Jagtar Singh Johal on November 4, 2017.

“As the UN report clearly acknowledged, Jagtar has been arbitrarily detained – but the UK and Indian governments stay seemingly the one two actors within the case unable to acknowledge this truth.   

“It’s appalling that whereas ministers prioritise a commerce deal, my constituent is left languishing in jail with no decision in sight.”

A UK Government spokesperson mentioned: “We have constantly raised our issues about Mr Johal’s case instantly with the Government of India, together with his allegations of torture and his proper to a good trial – we’re dedicated to doing what we are able to to help him.”
