A legally armed Lyft driver shot and critically injured two suspects who carjacked him in Philadelphia, police said.

The ordeal began Monday shortly before 2:45 p.m. A 38-year-old Lyft driver was driving his 2011 Infiniti on the 1100 block of North 40th Street when he was rear ended by a Honda Accord.

The Lyft driver got out of his car and was approached by a man armed with a shotgun. The gunman then went inside the Infiniti, police said.

The Lyft driver, who has a valid permit to carry, then pulled out his own gun and fired at the gunman, police said. A second suspect who was inside the Honda Accord then attempted to run the Lyft driver over, according to investigators. The Lyft driver then fired at the second suspect…

The owner of a BMW shot at a man who had just taken off in his vehicle at a convenience store Tuesday afternoon on the city’s Northeast Side, police said.

A San Antonio police lieutenant at the scene said that the owner of the vehicle had just purchased some items inside the store in the 5100 block of Randolph Boulevard when he noticed someone driving away in his car.

As the suspect was driving away, the car owner opened fire, which caused the suspect to crash the car into a pole, police said…

The owner, believed to be about 30 years old, was armed when he went inside the store and is cooperating with the investigation. He is not expected to face charges, police said.

Hillsborough County detectives say they believe a truck driver was defending himself when he fatally shot a man who tried to rob him.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, the driver was trying to repair his disabled vehicle near U.S. Highway 92 and County Road 579. That’s when a man approached him and demanded he hand over his valuables.

Deputies said the driver did and handed over several items. The man left but then returned demanding his cell phone.

Deputies said the driver “was in fear for his life” and armed himself before shooting the man, who died at the scene.

As of Wednesday, deputies said they believe it is a case of self-defense.

Officials announced on Tuesday that they wouldn’t file charges against a York restaurant owner who shot and killed a man at his business.

The announcement comes seven days after emergency crews responded to a shooting at the Asian Best restaurant on the first block of North Penn Street in York at around 7 p.m.

York City Police say the owner of the restaurant shot and killed 33-year-old Rickey Cox of Manchester Township, who was attempting to rob the restaurant…

The man allegedly broke in armed with a gun after the restaurant had closed and demanded money from the register, CBS21 reports.

He threatened the owner’s wife and son before the owner came out of the back of the restaurant and shot him, according to CBS21…

As the victim reached for his money, the seller pulled out a gun and shot the man in the shoulder.

State Attorney Jack Campbell recently stated though the case is not officially closed, there will be no charges filed in the road rage incident that occurred on January 6th and left John Kuczwanksi dead.

Campbell said the shooting is a “clear case of self-defense” after investigators reviewed a number of surveillance videos of the shooting between the two drivers. He asserted the video evidence shows 53-year-old Kuczwanski firing first at the other driver involved…

The report states that Kuczwanski’s BMW drifted out of its lane on Thomasville Road and hit a white Prius. Both vehicles pulled into a parking lot, and the driver of the Prius confronted Kuczwanski then returned to his car to wait for law enforcement to arrive.

Shortly after the two drivers exchanged words, Kuczwanski rammed his BMW into the driver’s side of the Prius, pushing the car sideways in the parking lot. Then Kuczwanski fired a gun at the driver of the Prius, who returned fire into the windshield of the BMW; that is when Kuczwanski was struck and killed…

The victim and his 45-year-old son met the suspect in the area to sell him a video gaming system, according to a press release from Jackson police. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the victims and attempted to rob them of the gaming system.

The 69-year-old was legally carrying a handgun and pulled his firearm on the suspect, officials stated. Gunshots were exchanged between the 69-year-old victim and suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot and has not yet been found…

A driver pulled out a gun and fired after coming face-to-face with an armed teenage carjacking suspect in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia…

Police said the car owner fired at least five shots in total around midnight Tuesday at the intersection of North 17th and Folsom streets. They said he does have a valid permit to carry a weapon.

Investigators said the 18-year-old suspect who was shot showed up at the hospital and admitted to being at the scene…

The DA’s office also confirmed the driver was legally armed….

Police responding to the Broadway Express Mart on Broadway around 11 p.m. found a 33-year-old man suffering from two stab wounds.

The clerk told officials that a dark-skinned male wearing all black clothing entered the store, went behind the counter and displayed a knife while demanding money. Police say the clerk then drew his concealed firearm and shot several rounds at the suspect.

The suspect tried to leave the business before the male victim attempted to stop him and as a result, was stabbed twice, the clerk told police. The suspect then fled the store in a stolen Orange Outback SUV with a kayak roof rack…

In a news release, the North Pole Police Department said that Adam Selid, 18, was shot during a gun sale that turned into an attempted robbery, KTUU-TV reported. The shooting took place in the parking lot near a Taco Bell at North Santa Claus Lane, according to the television station.

Selid and Dalen Davis, 19, met with the seller and agreed to purchase the weapons at about 11:32 p.m. local time, KTVF-TV reported. According to police, Selid then pulled out a handgun and threatened the seller, according to the television station.

After a struggle, the seller produced his own weapon and fired one shot that struck Selid in the abdomen, KTUU reported…

Davis was charged with robbery and manslaughter, according to KTUU.

The person who was selling the firearms and shot at Selid has not been charged, the television station reported…

Keeley reports that the incident started when a man was harassing a woman aboard the SEPTA train when an armed rider intervened. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a man went to the 4200 block of Angola Street to confront a group of people gathered in the area.

During the confrontation, the man pointed a gun at the group of people gathered. One of those gathered also pulled a gun and shot the man, the sheriff’s office said…

The others involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No one has been arrested.

The 69-year-old City Taxi driver, who has been a cab driver for 20 years, usually works during the day but decided to take “one more fare” before heading home, according to field reports obtained by the Democrat. 

His last rider was an 18-year-old who was going to Walmart to cash a check from work.

Sometime during the drive from Basin Street to the North Monroe Walmart, the rider accused the driver of driving slow to make more money, according to field reports. The argument culminated a few feet from the entrance of the supercenter when the passenger began striking the driver with a closed fist.

The driver pulled out his a handgun tucked near his seat and shot the young man in the abdomen while they were both in the cab…

Campbell told WCTV that the driver’s use of force was lawful under self-defense, and the passenger admitted to police that he had “put his hands” on the driver. The station reported the cab driver, who had just started carrying a gun the month before, became scared after the passenger became angry…

A store clerk in Illinois shot and killed an armed robbery suspect and will not be facing charges at this time.

“After a preliminary review of surveillance video and witness interviews, it appears the use of force by the employee was justified as self-defense and for the defense of others inside the store during the robbery,” Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal said…

The incident occurred Tuesday night at Blackhawks Tobacco & Vape in Rock Island, Illinois. According to police, three robbery suspects, all wearing masks, entered the store. One of them had a gun.

Jamar McNair Jones was shot by an armed driver on Jan. 18 while trying to carjack him after leading police on a high speed chase through Bell County, according to the Killeen Police Department…

Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble told KWTX it all started when police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant at the suspect’s house that morning. At the time, Jones was wanted in connection to a string of robberies in the area and has an active warrant out of Dallas for aggravated robbery, Kimble said.

Jones entered a vehicle and fled the scene, leading authorities on a chase into Harker Heights, Nolanville and back into Killeen.

Police said Jones then wrecked the Nissan he was driving and then proceeded to the intersection of Rosewood and the Central Texas Expressway access road, where he attempted to carjack a driver at gunpoint.

The driver was also armed and shot the suspect several times in self defense, police said…

A shooting near an Escambia County bar Thursday night that left a man dead is being investigated as a “Stand Your Ground” case.

Family on Friday identified the man shot and killed as 41-year-old Kevin Johnson. The shooting took place around 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Speak Eazy Cigars & Spirits on Baars Street and Davis Highway.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says investigators determined that Johnson was the aggressor and shot another man first during an altercation. The man then shot back at Johnson, ultimately killing him…

The 35-year-old suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the delivery driver and demanded his car, police said.

Teoprts say the victim and the carjacker wounded each other but the suspect got away in the man’s car. But he didn’t get far.

Within a few minutes, about four miles away, a 911 caller said there was a bleeding man there claiming he’d been shot. Police went to the location near East Davis and I-35W where they found not only the wounded man but the stolen car, too…

Police responded at 7:40 p.m. to the QuikTrip at 2350 S. New Road after a report that the man was chasing the woman into the store and continuing to attack her, Officer Garen Bynum said in a press release.

During the response, police learned a “separate third-party individual had intervened in an attempt to defend the female victim by shooting the suspect with a handgun,” Bynum said in the press release.

Both the alleged attacker and victim were transported to a local hospital with severe injuries, Bynum said. The bystander with the gun remained at the scene to speak to officers and is cooperating with the investigation, Bynum said. The bystander has not been charged with a crime…

The customer told officers he was sitting in the pizza joint when Davis, who was wearing a mask and holding a pistol, told everyone inside to get on the ground, the report said. Davis turned his back on the customer and told employees, “One of y’all get up and get the money out of the register.”

The customer said he took the opportunity to pull out his own weapon, point it at the suspect and tell him to drop his pistol. Davis then turned toward the customer and began shooting, the report said.

The men exchanged gunfire until Davis dropped to the floor. Police said Davis was able to stumble out of the restaurant, and officers found him across the street. He was taken to a hospital where he later died…

Officers responded to the Ansley Square strip mall at 1510 Piedmont Avenue just before 1:30 a.m., Atlanta police said in a news release. At the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and is stable.
