414 MEPs voted in favour, 112 in opposition to, 57 abstained.
In its committee vote on 15 June, the Budgetary Control committee gave Blok’s nomination a beneficial opinion, following a hearing with the candidate earlier the same day.
EU member states will make the ultimate resolution on the appointment
The Dutch publish on the ECA has been vacant since April 2022, following the death of the incumbent, Mr Alex Brenninkmeyer.

Background
The EU Treaty permits every member state to suggest a candidate for the European Court of Auditors. The Council of the EU, after consulting Parliament, appoints the chosen nominees for a six-year time period.
